How would you define ‘the good life?’ Is it spending time with family on a beautiful day in town enjoying all the sights and sounds? Relaxing at the natural hot springs for some much needed R&R? Taking your children to the botanical gardens to enjoy time in nature? Attending an art gallery or concert on any given night? How about a night out exploring the restaurants and nightclubs? Perhaps it’s all of the above. And it’s all within reach.
It’s a rare thing to find a place of such allure and serenity, while at the same time enjoying the amenities and culture of a small, thriving town. One minute you’re walking through the protected nature preserve of the Jardín Botánico—seemingly miles away from civilization—and a short drive (or walk) later, you’re deep in the heart of Centro surrounded by every aspect of Mexican tradition from food to fashion to ancient tribal festivities. The people alone are a breath of fresh air—friendly, polite, and full of life. Music, festivals, galleries, award-winning restaurants, hiking, biking, swimming, cinemas, hot-air balloon rides, ATV rentals…these are just the tip of the iceberg of activities in San Miguel. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, just look through the many guides and magazines dedicated to events, shopping and festivals.
If you ask just about anyone, they’ll say the quality of life here is what caught their attention and convinced them to stay. Not to mention everything is a fraction of the cost of what you would expect in a destination like this. There is truly something special about San Miguel de Allende.
